Professional Headshots & Business Portraits in New Jersey

Professional Headshots & Business Portraits in New Jersey

Does your business portrait say who you are………..who you really are?

This one does!

nj-headshots

If my kids or anyone in my family needed orthodontics I would definitely call these guys, looks like my time spent with them would be a blast! ( and after working with them creating this image, I have to tell you it fits them to a tee, sharp, efficient, fun professional guys with a staff to match). Assuming they are just as good orthodontists as their competition, there is no way I would visit the folks with the boring photos of themselves. Who wants to deal with boring? Hey, maybe their competition isn’t boring at all, but they have that old boring photo of themselves on their website and brochures, maybe they just look boring, but that’s the point………..if you want to get the business, you need to make an awesome first impression, every time, no matter what type of business you are in.

When you hire me, you’re hiring a professional photographer and not just a person with a camera. My professional business portraits and headshots are artfully crafted to help market your business and yourself effectively. Call me. Anytime. 800.646.5812 I’d love to hear from you!

pasta with sweet potatoes, tomatoes, garlicky kale, and BACON!

Hey, it’s winter, and it’s been cold, and we’re always looking for some interesting and healthy comfort food. I saw this posted on Facebook by my friend Rebecca and once I saw that it had bacon I was all over it. Rebecca shared it from the Pixelated Crumb website and I thought that it was so good I’d pass it along.
mmmmmmm, bacon, and with other healthy, this looked like it could be a home run!……and I’m happy to report it was !

Pasta with Sweet Potatoes, Tomatoes, Garlicky Kale, and Bacon

corolla nc photohgrapher

 Yield: 8 servings

 Adapted from Whole Living

Need another reason to love this pasta? This makes 8 servings so you can either feed a crowd or have plenty of leftovers to get you through the week. If you want to make this dish vegetarian, skip the bacon and heat 2 tablespoons olive oil to the pan before adding the sweet potatoes and throw in a pinch of salt. You can make the pasta vegan by omitting the cheese.

Want to take this dish to a whole other level? Finish it with truffle salt.

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch kale, stems removed and chopped (about 8 to 10 stalks)
  • 1 large sweet potato, cubed (about 3 cups, skin on)
  • ½ lb bacon, cut into half-inch pieces
  • 1 pint grape or cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lb whole wheat pasta such as fusilli or penne
  • ¼ cup toasted pine nuts
  • ½ lemon, juiced
  • ½ cup pecorino romano, finely grated, divided
  • Red pepper flakes, to taste
  • Kosher salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Put a pot of well-salted water on to boil. Add pasta to boiling water and cook according to package directions. Drain and return to the pot.
  2. Meanwhile, in a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until the fat is rendered and you’ve got the desired level of crispness. Remove the bacon to a plate lined with paper towels, leaving the fat from the bacon in the pan.
  3. Add the sweet potatoes to the pan. Cook, uncovered, without stirring, 5 minutes. Toss the potatoes once, cover the skillet with the lid, and cook 5 minutes more.
  4. Add the garlic, kale, tomatoes, and red pepper flakes. Crush a few tomatoes on the bottom of the skillet so that their juices are released (this will help steam the kale). Cover and cook just until the kale has wilted and turns bright green, 2 to 3 minutes (don’t overcook!) Remove from heat. Squeeze the lemon juice over the vegetables.
  5. Toss the cooked pasta with olive oil. Add sautéed vegetables, about half of the bacon, roughly two-thirds of the cheese, and the toasted pine nuts and toss. Season with sea salt to taste. Serve immediately, topping each dish with the reserved bacon and grated pecorino romano.

I’m willing to bet this would also be great in the middle of July at the beach!

that’s all from this Outer Banks Photographer for now, see you next time!

Outer Banks Family Photographer

For this Outer Banks Family photographer, and just about everybody else,

it’s that time of the year, the middle of February, soooo coooold and snooooowy,  when we all start thinking and dreaming of the hot summer beach again, and making our plans for our summer vacations and adventures………

……and whether you are vacationing with your immediate family, or with your extended family, the beach is the perfect place to make that beautiful family portrait that you have always wanted.

But let’s face it, many people would rather have a root canal than having their portrait made. Perhaps the last time with the kids at the mall kiddie studio, or at the local “professional” studio was so stressful you or your significant other swore that they would never do that again. And now years have passed and the only photos that you have of your family are snapshots that are put away in drawers or digital pictures that are on a hard drive somewhere, or worse yet, still in the camera, or still on your cell phone, you know, the one that is not backed up, so when you lose it or it dies all of your photos are gone too. :-(

Well I promise to make your families portrait session a fun experience, maybe not the highlight of your trip ( lol ), but a time you will fondly look back on and say, “boy, that was easy, and even fun”.  I’ve worked with all kinds of families and large groups for over thirty years, I promise you that I know what I am doing. And I promise that you will absolutely love your portraits when they are displayed in your home and office.

So call me anytime at 800.646.5812 or to make it even easier, just fill out this form, click submit, and I will be back to you right away.

and on another note

Professional Headshots and Business Portraits

and the importance of post production retouching

I photographed a very simple headshot of this nice fellow yesterday and just wanted to show you how important professional

post production retouching is on headshots and business portraits.

Just mouse over the image to see the before and after

(please reload the page if it the before and doesn’t work)

click here to see the before & after if you are on an iPad/iPhone

one of the big differences between me and other photographers is the way I make my finished images……..each one goes through a painstaking 17 step process, from individual skin enhancement to localized contrast and color correction, to working on the background, my hand finished images are head and shoulders above the rest.

Seems simple, yet it is not, and to do this properly requires a lot more skill than pushing a button in photoshop.

So when you are ready to put your best foot forward and want to create a great first impression, contact me any time 24/7

and together we’ll design a portrait that makes you look great!

( did you notice his necktie being pulled up?)

I look forward to chatting with you!

We have awesome scenery here in Corolla, but so does the rest of the Outer Banks. I had the pleasure of working with this beautiful family from Colorado the other morning that was staying in Nags Head, and we decided to venture down the road a bit to Coquina Beach, part of Cape Hatteras National Seashore.

This is what we came up with………..pretty awesome!

Meanwhile back in Corolla, NC I made this image of two sisters a week or so ago and just had to post it.
